What is the Myers Briggs Type Indicator?
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI for short) is a ninety three-question assessment that gauges the user’s views on the world around them. This test asks simple questions in which the person taking the test chooses between two options based on how he or she feels. An example would be choosing between the options A: I prefer being organized, or B: I prefe
r being flexible. The test uses the user’s answers to sort them into four personality indicators.
What are the four personality indicators?
The four indicators tested are extroversion vs. introversion, sensation vs. intuition, feeling vs. thinking, and judging vs. perceiving. In each of the indicators there is a dominant trait creating sixteen different personality combinations. Each combination has a different strengths and weaknesses associated with it. For example an ENFP personality stands for extroverted, intuitive, feeling, and perceiving. ENFP personalities are energetic and excellent communicators but often lack focus and get stressed out easily.
Why are the results important?
The purpose of the test is to better understand yourself and those around you. With the analysis or your strengths and weaknesses you put yourself in positions to succeed. Many businesses hold the MBTI in high regard. Since many personality types conflict, knowing your employees traits can help management effectively interact with and motivate their employees.

Knowing your personality is vital to navigating the job market. One of the most common questions that interviewers ask is “what are your strengths and weaknesses”. Through personality tests, you can gain insight on what your strengths and weaknesses are from an objective source. They evaluate you based off your own opinions and preferences. These can provide you with answers to that classic interview question, and answers that you may not have known or thought of previously.
