Helpful Job Search Websites You Haven’t Heard About

Finding the right job can be hard, and there are a lot of avenues to do so. Going to job fairs and online networking through LinkedIn or Indeed are great methods to find one, but they don’t work for everyone. Luckily there are plenty of other helpful job search websites to assist you with your job search. Below are three major categories of other tools that may help you land the right job, and you can also subscribe to the Our First Job Search weekly newsletter to receive helpful job search tips.

Websites That Find Jobs for You

If you find it annoying to constantly check up on popular job search websites like LinkedIn and Indeed, there are websites that will check for you and automatically send jobs your way. Simply upload your resume, tell them what type of job you’re interested in, and they’ll do all the online networking for you and send you an email when you have a match! Some job search websites that will do this for you include ZipRecruiter and Planted. I use ZipRecruiter as a central part of my online networking when looking for jobs. I’ve found the website to be helpful and scored a good amount of interviews through their website.

Industry Specific and Niche Job Websites

Online networking through job search sites that are tailored to find you a job in your field of interest helps you skip the step of aimlessly searching through LinkedIn in hopes you find a job that might be a match. If you know what industry you want to work in, that industry might have its very own job search website. Some examples of these niche job search websites include College Recruiter for students looking for internships and entry-level jobs, Dice for people interested in IT, and Idealist for people that like non-profits. You can download an infographic with more detail about 8 niche job search websites by clicking the button below.

If there is a field you’re interested in that isn’t mentioned, just Google that field + “job search website,” and you might find an online networking platform that is perfect for you. If you aren’t quite sure what field or industry you want to work in, Our First Job Search has some tools that can help you find the right job and figure out what career is right for you.

Company Websites

Have you always dreamed of working for a company like Amazon or Spotify? Did you know that they have their own job search websites? Skip all the mindless searching and go right onto the websites of your favorite brands to see if they are looking for someone like you! Because most large companies have their own job boards on their websites, you can job search online simply by looking through their websites. If you want more information on how to find job opportunities at your favorite companies online, you can watch this short video that walks you through the process.

Overall, there are plenty of job search websites outside of LinkedIn that can be helpful resources for you. You just have to put yourself out there and online network!
