Tips on Finding your Dream Job: So Easy a College Student Can Do It!

Are you a junior or senior college student looking for your dream job? Are you stuck and don’t know where to start? Who to talk to? Where to find help? 1) Know Yourself.

First you need to ease into the job search process. A simple way to do this is by attending job fairs and networking events to see what you like and what interest you. If you find something that interest at you, ask the representative some questions regarding the company as well as tips for applying for a job in a career related to that company. Another way to discover your potential dream job is to assess what you like, what are your hobbies and interest outside of school? By taking the things you love and are interested in, research ways to incorporate those things in potential careers.


2) Dig Deeper.

Another way to discover your dream job is to take online career quizzes. Quizzes like these will help you maybe discover something that you are good at but might have overlooked as well as hobbies that could turn into a career. Along with career quizzes, career coaching and counseling is another great resource. 3) Interviews.

Once you discover what your dream job is and start applying, it's time to start preparing for the interview. It never hurts to practice alone or with someone willing to help with interview questions. By preparing answers to common interview questions, you will more than ready when similar questions get asked at the interview. Interview questions will vary based on the job you are interviewing for. Make sure you do your research on the company and the field to know what these questions might consist of. For the interview, make sure you look the part by dressing accordingly. Business professional is recommended for job interviews, once you land the job you can take notes on what the company culture is to understand how to dress for the days to come. 


Looking for a job is not a simple task but it is also not as bad as we make it out to be. All it takes is a little outside knowledge and some soul searching to secure that job that you’ve always wanted!
